Josh Kelley urodził się w Augustanie, w stanie Georgia. Zaczął swoją muzyczną kariere w wieku 11 lat. Jego brat, Charles jest również muzykiem i gra w zespole Lady Antebellum. W młodości Josh i Charles założyli zespół i nazwali go Inside Blue, nagrali razem 5 piosenek. Jest amerykańskim muzykiem i ma na swoim koncie 7 albumów oraz 9 singli. Gra na około 14 instrumentach a ponadto pisze teksty piosenek.
Koncertował m.in z : Rodem Stewart'em, Third Eye Blind, Tobym Lightman'em, Counting Crows i Ryanem Cabrerą, Mirandą Lambert, Tylor Swift, The Kin.
