Manitoba

Manitoba Canadian Dan Snaith launched his musical project called Manitoba in 2001. Drawing on leftfield electronica a la Boards of Canada, Start Breaking My Heart appeared in 2001. Up in Flames (2003), a more song based set of music influenced by psychedelia and post-rock, proved to be his breakthrough album. Tours with groups like Stereolab, Prefuse 73, Four Tet and Broadcast would follow and live, Manitoba would become a trio with two drummers.

Unfortunately, Snaith was sued by The Dictators' Handsome Dick Manitoba for trademark infringement. This led to Snaith rechristening his outfit as Caribou and going on to record The Milk of Human Kindness.
